COMPASSION FATIGUE

Today’s Joy Notes is understanding how COMPASSION FATIGUE can derail your self love. Compassion fatigue is real, especially for empaths who constantly give their energy, time, and emotions to others. As I always say, “I’m a giver,” but one crucial truth must be understood: you cannot pour from an empty cup. Before extending compassion, care, and love to others, you must first offer these to yourself.

It’s easy to push your own needs aside, to prioritize everyone else while neglecting your own emotional and mental well-being. But today, we acknowledge that this is not an option. Self-preservation is not selfish—it’s necessary. To protect and strengthen our core values, we must stand firm on these truths:
1. Self-Care is a Priority – Taking care of yourself allows you to be present for others without depletion.
2. Boundaries Are Essential – Setting limits is not rejection; it is self-respect.
3. Rest is a Right, Not a Reward – You don’t have to earn the right to take breaks; they are necessary.
4. Your Feelings Matter Too – You are not just a support system for others; your emotions are valid.
5. Grace Begins With You – Show yourself the same patience, understanding, and kindness you give others.

Compassion fatigue is a sign that you care deeply, but it should never come at the cost of your well-being. Prioritizing yourself is the first step to truly giving in a way that is sustainable, fulfilling, and healthy. To love, I must prioritize my self love.
