HEALING THROUGH A LEARNING PERSPECTIVE

Today’s Joy Notes is an opportunity to uncover Healing Through a Learning Perspective. Healing—whether emotional, spiritual, or physical—begins with shifting your perspective to ask, What can I learn from this experience? Perhaps it’s fortitude, forgiveness, perseverance, or resilience. Healing often requires acceptance and the courage to move forward, yet we can get stuck, not because we don’t want to heal, but because we’re consumed by questions like Why did this happen? or What did I do to deserve this?

At 30, I experienced a traumatic cardiac arrest and stroke. It would have been easy to dwell on Why me? or I don’t deserve this. Instead, I chose to see it as a lesson: life is temporary, and challenges can be transformative. This realization taught me the power of reinvention and perseverance.

When we offer our minds a new perspective, we unlock the ability to rise above any obstacle. Here are a few tips to cultivate a learning perspective during pain or challenges:
1. Reflect on the Lesson: Ask yourself what the experience is teaching you about life, yourself, or others.
2. Accept What You Cannot Change: Focus on what is within your control rather than dwelling on the past.
3. Practice Gratitude: Find small things to be thankful for, even in difficult times.
4. Be Patient with Yourself: Healing is a process, not a race.
5. Seek Support: Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you.

By embracing a learning mindset, you empower yourself to heal and grow.
