REALITY

Today’s Joy Notes is examining how your brain interprets REALITY. Understanding how your mind interprets reality can be a game-changer. According to psychology, your brain is constantly looking for evidence to confirm your beliefs. If you believe that things are always going wrong, your mind will start zeroing in on every minor setback, every inconvenience, and treat them as proof that your life isn’t going well. This doesn’t mean life is objectively worse—it means your brain is simply doing its job by reinforcing the narrative you’ve chosen to tell yourself.

The good news is that this works the other way around too. If you begin to tell yourself that good things are happening, your brain will start to notice opportunities, kindness, and wins—even in small moments. This is known as confirmation bias, where your brain selectively filters information to validate your beliefs.

By intentionally choosing a positive perspective, you can reshape the reality you experience. Practicing positive affirmations, gratitude, and mindfulness helps train your mind to seek out positive aspects of your life. Remember, it’s not about ignoring life’s difficulties; it’s about deciding which lens you want to use as your main filter. With intentionality, you can guide your brain toward a mindset that not only motivates but also fosters personal growth.
